CV tips

A first impression speaks volumes and there is no bigger first impression than your CV. Here are some tips.

Some do’s and don’ts for your CV from us to you:

Keep it simple, to the point, and straightforward.

Try and keep your CV to two pages.

Only include social media handles if their title and content are appropriate.

Focus on your strengths and talk them up.

Never forget all of your contact details. If they like your CV, you want to be reachable in more ways than one.

Leave out any skills or interests that don’t pertain to the job you want.

Tailor your CV to the role you’re applying for.

Thoroughly check grammar and spelling.

Only detail qualifications above A-Level and only if they are appropriate for the job.

Don’t use the word I too much.

Like your social media handles, if your email address isn’t professional, get a new, professional email address.

Check how your CV looks on multiple computers, iPad’s, and smartphones.

If a qualification or extra-curricular award isn’t relevant, don’t include it, no matter how good it may look.

Get multiple people to read your CV first and take their notes into consideration.
